Summary:

This presentation is for professionals working in the recreation and library sectors.

A dementia-friendly community is a place where people affected by dementia feel included and supported. While creating dementia-friendly communities, individuals and organizations should focus on both the physical and social environments to ensure they are fully accessible.

During this presentation you will learn about the concept of dementia-friendly communities and be introduced to several resources to support you in creating recreation and library spaces that are dementia friendly. You will hear from Barret Miller, Manager, Group and Corporate Programs, Fort Whyte Alive about their Tales Along the Trail program. You will also hear from person with living with dementia about their experiences utilizing recreation and library programing. The session will conclude with an interactive panel.
