Presentations

Touch Quilts are crafted by many caring volunteers in the community and presented to people residing in personal care homes across the province.

The goal is to provide a Touch Quilt to every person residing in a
personal care home in Manitoba. To date, over 5,000 Touch Quilts have been distributed.

Here are a few stories of how people have helped:

A group of Mary Duncan School students from The Pas, MB crafted Touch Quilts for St. Paul's Personal Care Home. The students had so much fun making the Touch Quilts that they will be continuing with the project using their own fabric.

Check out the video below made by Educational Assistant Lisa Skulmoski, who headed up the project.

The Girl Guides of Canada sorted through hundreds of pre-cut quilt squares and placed the different textured squares into separate piles. In just two hours, the girls assembled 249 kits! Through story-telling and sharing their own experiences, the girls were also able to learn more about Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

Rossburn Health Auxillary members used their sewing skills to create Lap Top Touch Quilts made with a variety of fabric textures, patterns and colours. The 28 quilts were delivered to the residents of the Rossburn Personal Care Home.
