Alzheimer Society Research Program (ASRP) 2026 grant recipients
This year the ASRP invests over $4.1 million in 31 researchers across Canada.
Since 1989, the Alzheimer Society Research Program (ASRP) has supported groundbreaking dementia research by investing in emerging and established Canadian researchers, with a common goal of changing the future of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
This year, the ASRP is investing over $4.1 million in 31 researchers across Canada. The 2026 grant recipients reflect a wide range of scientific disciplines and innovative approaches. These recipients represent the next generation of dementia research in Canada while advancing ideas which could improve diagnosis, care, treatment, prevention and quality of life for people living with dementia and their care partners.
The ASRP funds dementia research in Canada through four award categories: Doctoral Awards, Postdoctoral Awards, New Investigator Grants and Proof of Concept Grants.
The eight priority research areas the ASRP funds are:
- Care
- Cause
- Diagnosis
- Epidemiology
- Risk
- Therapy
- Translational
- Treatment
The funding provided this year supports a wide variety of work across the country, from brain imaging and AI-supported tools to culturally informed care approaches and strategies for earlier detection.
This work is made possible through partnerships with Brain Canada Foundation and Research Manitoba, alongside other funding partners committed to advancing dementia research in Canada.
