It’s more than just a walk!

The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s is the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba’s largest annual fundraiser, supporting local programs and services that improve the quality of life for people living with dementia and their families. It’s more than just a walk — it’s a powerful day for our community to come together to connect, celebrate and show that no one facing dementia walks alone.

Erin Crawford (CEO, Alzheimer Society of Manitoba) and Aimee Palmer (Regional Vice President, IG Wealth Management)

“The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s brings people together in a meaningful way,” says Aimee Palmer, Regional Vice President of IG Wealth Management. “When we gather as a community to raise awareness and funds, we create momentum that directly supports families and strengthens the programs and services they rely on.”

Every day, nine Manitobans are newly diagnosed with dementia. Today, more than 20,300 people in Manitoba are living with the disease — a number expected to rise to 39,100 by 2050. As these numbers grow, so does the urgent need for accessible information, person-centred support, and meaningful community connection for families navigating dementia.

“For nearly 18 years, IG Wealth Management has proudly supported the Alzheimer Society because we understand the challenges families face,” says Aimee. “The Walk for Alzheimer’s is one of the most meaningful ways we can stand alongside those impacted and show our commitment to community. I’m so proud to be a part of it.”

By participating in the Walk, Manitobans send a powerful message of hope — reminding people living with dementia and their care partners that they are not alone.

“The Walk holds personal meaning for me as well,” Aimee adds. “My grandmother lived with Alzheimer’s for more than 10 years. Her story reminds me that behind every statistic is a family. As more Manitobans are diagnosed with dementia, it’s more important than ever to create awareness and hope for families.”
