Inspiring the future of dementia research

The Graduate Student Fellowship Award is offered to encourage graduate student’s interest in dementia research, specifically to:

  • stimulate research activity in dementia;
  • enhance knowledge about the cause, treatment, cure and effects of dementia in the biomedical and psychosocial domains;
  • increase knowledge about the care of people living with dementia by formal and informal caregivers.

Award Eligibility

Applications are open to all graduate students residing in Manitoba.

Each year, two fellowships are offered to students in the post-graduate medical program (medical residents electing to take a year off from residency to pursue full-time research) who:

  • are enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, in either the first or second year of a Master’s program, the first four years of a doctoral program or the post-graduate medical program and whose research focuses on dementia;
  • have achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.5 based on previous 60 credit hours (or equivalent) of study;
  • have demonstrated outstanding interest or commitment to research in dementia.

In addition to the award eligibility criteria, all applications must meet the definition of aging research and use appropriate terminology throughout their application package.
