However you give your time, we appreciate the energy you give to help support those impacted by dementia.

When you volunteer with the Alzheimer Society, you have a chance to:

Volunteer with Alzheimer Society

How you can help

We have many opportunities for volunteers of all ages and skill levels. Some require just a few hours, while others are ongoing roles.

As a Minds in Motion® program volunteer, you will:

– Be available for a three-hour shift, for eight consecutive weekday mornings or afternoons

– Learn to facilitate recreational programs for adults of varied abilities

– Socialize with participants

– Assist with set-up and clean-up of refreshments and equipment

As a Support Group Facilitator, you will:

– Participate in support group volunteer training

– Facilitate or co-facilitate a virtual or in-person group

– Help to create a safe and welcoming environment for group participants 

– Provide verbal support to participants 

– Assist with set-up and clean-up as necessary for in-person groups

– Work a 2.5-hour shift per month

Touch quilts bring comfort, happiness, and calm feelings to those living with dementia. As a touch quilt volunteer, you will:

– Assemble touch quilt kits

– Sew label squares and stitch quilts

– Work individually or with a community group for as many hours as you like

– Make a positive impact for people living with dementia

There are many volunteer roles to fill at our annual Walk fundraiser, including:

Route Volunteer: helps direct and cheer on our walkers along the route

Check-In Tent: collects donations, hands out prizes and registers any walk-up participants

Food Tent: hands out lunch, snacks and drinks to our participants

Team Photos: assists with the collection of team contact information and manages lineups of people waiting for their photo
