Want to support someone who is involved in an Alzheimer Society of Manitoba event? Visit our Fundraising Events and Host Your Own Fundraiser pages for a list of upcoming events.

Make a Gift of Publicly Traded Securities

Includes gifts of stocks, bonds, mutual fund units and shares.

Marketable securities can provide maximum benefit to the Alzheimer Society at minimum costs to the donor.

Benefits to donors:

• Subject to generous tax incentives (45% tax credit)
• No capital gains tax on gifts of publicly-traded securities to public charities (incentive is only useful if the security has appreciated in value)
• One of the most tax effective ways to make a donation

If a person donates a stock originally purchased for $300 that has grown to a fair market value of $1,000 and transfers ownership to the Alzheimer Society, he or she will receive a tax receipt for $1,000 from the Alzheimer Society and will not have to pay tax on the gain.
