National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 2026

Wednesday, September 30, 2026 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day to honour the lost children and Survivors of the residential schools, their families and communities.

Sacred Fire at the Indigenous Peoples Garden | Sept 30
Fire Node, Indigenous Peoples Garden at The Leaf, 145 The Leaf Way, Winnipeg
Park visitors are invited to participate in a quiet moment of personal reflection. Indigenous educator Wayne Lalman will be interacting with visitors and sharing tobacco teachings.

6^th Annual Orange Shirt Day Healing Walk and Pow Wow | Sept 30
Hosted by the Southern Chiefs’ Organization
Oodena Circle, The Forks, Winnipeg
An opening ceremony will start the day at 9:30 am at the Oodena Circle at The Forks, followed by the healing walk to the Canada Life Centre.
