World Alzheimer’s Month 2026

Grow your understanding of dementia and get involved with supports across the province.

Your path forward to community and connection

Hearing the words ‘you have dementia’ can be overwhelming, but you don’t have to face your next steps alone. The Alzheimer Society is your place to connect and grow your community of support.

September is World Alzheimer’s Month

This September marks the 15th anniversary of World Alzheimer’s Month, an international campaign to raise dementia awareness and challenge stigma. This year’s campaign centres on the benefits of early diagnosis.

An earlier, accurate dementia diagnosis can mean sooner access to support, education and treatment — and greater autonomy for those living with dementia when planning for their future. However, fear and stigma still keep many people from seeking help, in Manitoba and around the world.

The Alzheimer Society of Manitoba is here to help

Whether you’re noticing signs of the disease yourself, caring for someone or supporting a family member or friend, we connect you with the resources you need to better understand dementia and what comes next.

Our First Link® Dementia Helpline, online education sessions, recreation programs and support groups offer information, guidance and a sense of community — helping people living with dementia and their care partners feel included, valued and heard.

This World Alzheimer’s Month, we invite you to get involved in our programs and events, and grow your community of support.
