The Alzheimer Society of Manitoba is pleased to announce a partnership with the Research Manitoba to develop and support a Manitoba Dementia Research Chair. This award will support an internationally recognized early to mid-career researcher who works as an independent investigator in dementia research.
The Chair is a five year, $500,000 award intended to increase the profile and productivity of dementia research in Manitoba. The Alzheimer Society’s portion of $250,000 is being funded through a generous donation from Wescan Electrical Mechanical Services.
Through this partnership, both organizations will use their resources to promote advancement in dementia research. This will include:
- Supporting the expansion of understanding about dementia and dementia care in Manitoba through new research at the individual and population level;
- Contributing to the continuing education and engagement of individuals, organizations and government with respect to policies and programs in dementia and dementia care;
- Supporting knowledge translation and public education efforts;
- Promoting communication and interaction among researchers in Manitoba whose research is related to dementia and dementia care;
- Contributing to the training of highly qualified personnel, including graduate students and postdoctoral trainees, interested in dementia and dementia care research.
Application deadline is on or before April 2, 2015 and funding decisions will be announced by July 1, 2015.
