The Alzheimer Society is a leading funder of dementia research and training in Canada – we’ve invested over $130,000 last year alone (2019-20). Including our investment, the Alzheimer Society Research Program (ASRP) has funded over $70 million in grants and awards since its inception in 1989.
There is currently no cure for Alzheimer’s disease, but there is hope. A portion of every donation made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba is invested into vital research by Canadian researchers, who rank among the world’s top dementia scientists.
Financial gifts directed towards research are crucial to help find better treatments and ultimately a cure for Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Without proper funding, research breakthroughs go undiscovered. Last year only one in every three approved research proposals were funded because we simply lacked the financial means to support them.
